How to connect your watch to Gym+

Use the Watch chip on the Home screen to connect an Apple Watch, a Wear OS watch or a Garmin and see your heart rate as you train.

Works on
  • Wear OS
  • Apple Watch
  • Garmin

The Watch chip on the Home screen shows whether your Apple Watch, Wear OS watch, Garmin or heart rate strap is connected, for example Apple Watch connected. When something is missing, it says what, and one tap takes you straight to the missing step.

Step by step

  1. On the Home screen, find the Watch chip, right below the health card.

  2. Read the chip's line. It says what is missing, for example Install Gym+ on your Apple Watch, Open Gym+ on your watch to connect or Choose your Garmin.

  3. Tap the chip. With a Garmin on an iPhone, it opens Garmin Connect so you can choose which watches Gym+ may talk to. Otherwise, it opens the health data screen, with the watch help.

  4. The first time Gym+ opens on the watch, it asks for sensor permissions, such as heart rate and physical activity, on the watch itself. Allow them there.

  5. With the watch connected, the chip shows, for example, Wear OS watch connected. Tap it to pick a workout and start.

Common problems

The chip says Watch out of range or locked
Bring the Apple Watch close to the iPhone and unlock the watch.
The chip stays on Not confirmed
Gym+ got no answer from the watch. Open Gym+ on the watch and make sure it is close to the phone.
I chose my Garmin and it does not show
On an iPhone, Garmin Connect says which watches Gym+ may talk to. Under Sensors, tap Choose in Garmin Connect and choose the watch again.
I want to use a heart rate strap instead of a watch
Connect the strap under Sensors. See How to connect a Bluetooth heart rate strap.

Open in the app
