Community Guidelines
Gym+ brings clients and coaches together around training. These rules exist so that everyone can show the body they are building without fear of being exposed, harassed or deceived. They are part of the terms of use: by posting anything, you accept them.
1. Where these rules apply
To everything you send that someone else can see: profile photo, cover, @handle and display name, bio, exercise videos and images, the names, steps and tips of exercises you create, program names, comments, star ratings of coaches’ workouts and invitation messages.
Progress photos and logs that stay only on your device never leave it and are not analyzed by us. If you ever choose to share them with someone through the app, these rules apply to them from then on.
2. Bodies, workout clothes and the gym
Gym+ is a training app, and training means showing some skin. This is allowed:
- men without a shirt;
- sports bras, bikinis, swimsuits, short shorts and leggings;
- posing trunks and bodybuilding competition poses;
- gym mirror selfies and before-and-after photos in workout clothes or swimwear;
- body parts while performing an exercise, such as glutes in a hip thrust or hamstrings in a Romanian deadlift;
- sweat, stretch marks, scars, kinesiology tape and the normal marks of a body in training.
This is not allowed, even in a gym context: visible genitals (including through see-through fabric), exposed female breasts, sexual acts, framing that focuses on the genital area with no exercise purpose, and sexually suggestive poses or text.
When in doubt, review, not punishment. If the automated system is not sure about a workout photo, it stays under review for up to 24 hours, visible only to you, and it does not count against your account.
3. What is not allowed
Nudity and sexual content
Pornography, frontal nudity, genitals, exposed female breasts, sexual acts, offers of sexual content or services (“selling nudes”, “DM me”) and poses or captions with sexual connotations. Posting an intimate image of another person without their consent is also prohibited.
Violence
Blood, serious injury, mutilation, dead bodies, torture, threats or incitement to violence, a weapon pointed at someone and the sale of weapons or ammunition. A light bruise or a post-surgery rehab photo is not violence; if the image is graphic, it may go through review.
Hate and discrimination
Insults, dehumanization, hate symbols or discrimination based on race, color, ethnicity, religion, origin, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age or body shape.
Terrorism and extremism
Propaganda, flags, symbols or recruitment for terrorist or violent extremist organizations, glorification of attacks or massacres and praise for those who committed them.
Harassment
Threats, stalking, humiliation, demeaning comments about someone’s body, persistent contact after the person has asked you to stop and exposing other people’s personal data. Firm accountability about training between a client and their coach (“don’t skip tomorrow!”) is not harassment.
Drugs and anabolic steroids
Selling, offering or brokering illegal drugs and anabolic steroids, other steroids or hormones without a prescription, as well as “protocols”, “cycles” or dosing instructions for these substances. Common supplements, such as creatine, whey and caffeine, are allowed.
Spam, scams and impersonation
Mass messages, misleading links, pyramid schemes, selling followers, off-app contact for scams and pretending to be someone else or a professional you are not, including with a fake professional registration.
Comments and workout ratings
Comments and star ratings on coaches’ workouts are there to help other clients choose. Rate the workout you actually did, honestly. The following is not allowed:
- personal attacks, insults or remarks about the body, life or appearance of the coach or of other clients; criticize the workout, not the person;
- spam, advertising, links, requests for contact or text unrelated to the workout;
- bought or fake ratings: paying for stars or trading favors, discounts or freebies for them, rating your own workout, using other accounts or coordinating ratings as a group;
- mass rating to drag down a competing coach’s score;
- a coach pressuring, threatening or retaliating against a client over a rating.
Fake or bought ratings are removed and the workout’s score is recalculated without them. Whoever ordered or wrote them receives the penalties in section 7. An honest negative rating is not a violation and is not removed just because the coach disagrees with it.
Content involving minors
Zero tolerance. Any content that sexualizes a child or teen, with or without nudity, whether real, drawn, edited or computer-generated, and any attempt at grooming are removed immediately, the account is banned and the case is reported to the authorities. Coaches’ videos may not show minors working out. Details in standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Self-harm and suicide
Encouraging, teaching or glorifying self-harm, suicide or eating disorders is prohibited. People who talk about their own suffering are not punished: the app shows where to find support. If you or someone else is at risk right now, call your local emergency service.
4. How we moderate
- New photos and videos go through an automated check before they become visible to other people. Text goes through filters before it is saved.
- When the automated check is not sure, a person on our team reviews it. In the meantime, the content is visible only to you.
- User reports are reviewed by people.
- You are notified of every removal, with the reason and whether it was an automated or a human decision.
5. How to report
In the app, tap Report in the menu of the profile, the @handle, the photo, the cover, the video, the exercise, the program, the comment, the rating or the invitation. Choose the reason and, if you like, explain in a few words.
- The item disappears for you immediately and the report goes to the review queue.
- We review reports within 24 hours. Those involving a child or teen get top priority.
- The reported person does not find out who reported them.
- You get a notification when the report arrives and another when the review is done.
- For an intimate image of you posted without your consent, use the reason specific to that: it is taken down as soon as we confirm it.
If you cannot report through the app, write to safety@gymplus.life with the account’s @handle and a description of the content. Do not attach the content if it involves a child or teen: describe where it is and we will find it.
Mass reporting or reporting in bad faith to silence someone also violates these rules.
6. How to block someone
On the person’s profile or @handle, tap Block. Blocking works both ways: you stop seeing each other’s content and they can no longer comment on, invite or link up with you. The person is not notified. To undo it, go to the blocked list in settings.
7. Penalties
| Situation | Consequence |
|---|---|
| First violation | Content removed, a warning and a violation record on the account |
| Second violation within 90 days | Photo and video uploads blocked for 7 days |
| Third violation within 90 days, explicit hate or threats | Account suspended for 30 days; a coach loses their public page during the suspension |
| A new violation after a suspension | Ban |
| Sexual content involving a child or teen, or grooming | Immediate, permanent ban and a report to the authorities |
Each violation record expires after 180 days. Content under review because the automated system was unsure does not create a record. A ban does not entitle you to a refund beyond what the store’s policy already provides.
8. How to appeal a decision
If we remove your content or apply a penalty, you get a notification with the reason and an Appeal button. Tell us why you think the decision is wrong. A person who was not involved in the first decision reviews the case within 72 hours and replies through the app. If the appeal is accepted, the content comes back and the violation record is deleted.
Without access to the app, appeal at safety@gymplus.life, from the account’s e-mail address. Removed content is kept for 30 days to allow an appeal and is then deleted.
