How to back up and import your data

Export a ZIP backup or your workouts as CSV, and import a Gym+ backup or the data from another workout app.

Works on
  • iPhone
  • Android

The backup keeps what is saved on this phone in a ZIP file, photos and videos included. With it, you can move your data to another phone or keep a copy wherever you like. If you only want your workouts in a spreadsheet, export them as CSV.

Step by step

  1. On the Profile tab, tap Settings.

  2. Scroll to the Privacy and data section.

  3. Tap Export backup (ZIP) and choose where to save the file or who to share it with.

  4. To get only your workouts in a spreadsheet, tap Export workouts (CSV).

  5. To restore, tap Import backup, then Choose file, and pick a backup exported from Gym+.

  6. To bring your history from another app, tap Import from another app. The Which apps it reads list shows the formats Gym+ reads, such as Hevy, Strong, Lyfta, FitNotes and openGym, plus any CSV with date, exercise, reps and weight.

Common problems

The app says the backup is too large
Exercise videos take a lot of space. Remove some videos and try the export again.
The app says the backup was made by a newer version
Update Gym+ from the store and import the file again.
The app cannot read the file
Check that the file is a ZIP backup exported from Gym+ and that it was not changed or cut off on the way.

Open in the app

In Gym+, tap the question mark on the Home screen to open the Help Center and search for “Backup and import”. The Open now button takes you straight to the screen.
